AUGUST 25, 2006 - A song about being in love so much you forget about everything else in the world, especially all the people talking shit about you.
There is something mysterious about the instrumental warzone-part after the first chorus. I always heard in my head, for years, with helictopers and CNN-noises, bombs, guns. When I told people it should be inserted there, they just laughed, but I was serious. Then after a few years I finally got to actually creating the sample, put it in the song and... it was quite funny. Pretentious and overdone.
But then, a few weeks later, we're in the studio for the final mix, and I find out I lost the entire war-zone sample, so the producer couldn't put it in and I had to recreate it. So in the second version I toned it down a little bit, just a helicopter and some people talking. And maybe, deeply buried in the background, there might be an air alarm. Hm. Lame story.
lyrics
She said “B, you’re such an ironic,
A babemagnet but not into girls
A drummer who prefers electronics”
And I said blah blah blah,
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
And the rain falls on our naked feet
The war will never come to peace
And everyone will die
But we don’t care about reality
And the wind blows through the empty streets
The world’s not what it used to be
And everybody lies
But we don’t care about reality
He said “Man, you are such a liar
A hypocrite, a faker for friends
Face blank, but a heart full of fire
And I said blah blah blah,
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Why should I even cry
About a world on fire
I don’t need your sympathy
Because my heart’s on fire
I turn off the TV, I’ll have it my way
So have a nice day
